Cavan secure status

Cavan were pushed all the way at Kingspan/Breffni Park before securing their status for another year.

Tipperary notched the final six points of the game to push the issue to the wire. For all their possession though, they lacked a cutting edge.

Luckily for the hosts, everything Sean Johnston touched at the other end of the field turned to gold and they led 0-7 to 0-4 at the break.

Cavan lost David Givney to a second yellow in the 54th minute, but a fine point from Eugene Keating made it 0-16 to 0-7 on the hour mark and it seemed the contest was over.

The promotion-chasing visitors went onto eat into Cavan's lead to leave just a goal in it, but the hosts held on.
