Carthy to the fore as Dubs stay on march
Dublin strolled to victory at Parnell Park against a Longford side who had three men sent off in the second half.
The reigning champions dominated the early exchanges, with Shane Carthy impressing at centre-field. Two early scores from David Campbell and Shane Cunningham preceded the game's opening goal, as dual player Conor McHugh calmly finished off a pass from Niall Scully in the eighth minute.
Although Larry Moran replied a minute later, Dublin maintained their momentum with scores from Carthy, Cunningham, Campbell and Robbie Gaughan helping them to a 1-9 to 0-3 interval lead.
Longford were rocked by the 40th-minute dismissal of Liam O'Sullivan.
Moran swooped for a fine goal in the 49th minute to give Longford some hope, but the corner-forward's sending-off for a second booking four minutes later effectively sealed their fate.
Gaughan struck a glorious goal six minutes from time, while Cian Farrelly's second yellow card in the 58th minute completed a miserable afternoon for the midlanders.
