Canty set to miss Dubs showdown

GRAHAM CANTY looks likely to miss Cork’s All-Ireland semi-final clash with Dublin on August 22.

Canty has a torn hamstring, which could take four to six weeks to fully recover, having suffered the injury in the process of scoring a point during the second half of last weekend’s comfortable victory against Roscommon at Croke Park.

There’s also a doubt over full-forward Ciaran Sheehan, who is struggling to be fit for the last-four showdown because of a knee injury.

But there’s better news for Kildare with Dermot Earley still in with a chance of being fit for Kildare’s All- Ireland semi-final tie with Down on August 29.

Earley injured his knee early in last Sunday’s victory over Meath, but the prognosis has not turned out to be as serious as was first thought when he had to be helped from the field.
