Patrick Campbell's late goal rounded off an impressive win for the Cork minor footballers, who will face Mayo semi-final following an impressive showing against Monaghan in O'Connor Park, Tullamore yesterday.

Monaghan looked capable of matching Cork's attacking threat up until late in the first-half, when Michael O'Neill and Conor Corbett hit two goals in a minute.

The Ulster champions did score two second-half penalties from Liam McDonald - both awarded for footblocks - but three points was as close as that brought them as Cork kicked on to victory.

Both teams finished with 14 players following a straight red for Monaghan's Karl Dwyer and a double yellow for Cork's Daniel Peet, but Cork boss Bobbie O'Dwyer welcomed his side's victory and the upcoming semi-final with Mayo.

"It's superb to be playing in the All-Ireland semi-final. We haven't given any thought to the semi-final yet we'll just get over tonight's game. But yeah, we look forward to playing Mayo," said O'Dwyer.
