Butler goal settles Gallen nerves to seal final place

GALLEN CS will return to Croke Park for the schools final after they overcame a nervous third quarter to beat Davitt College of Castlebar in Strokestown on Saturday.

Gallen built up a comfortable 1-9 to 0-3 half-time lead, their goal coming from Eoghan Lowry.

Davitt College had recovered from four points down to win the Connacht final and they looked to be on track for a similar fightback here as two early goals for Conor Finnerty and Liam Irwin cut the deficit to two points.

However, Gallen responded with a Michael Butler goal and a string of points from Joe Maher and Lowry were enough to close out the win.
