Brogan's big year


Sunday, June 13

Dublin 2-16 Wexford 0-15

Things could have gone better for Brogan as he kicked eight wides, some from relatively easy frees. But he finished with 2-4 (2-3 from play), his goals illuminating what was for so long an awful Dublin display .

Meath 5-9 Dublin 0-13

One of his quieter days as he worked off a dearth of good ball. Still he landed three points, two from play.

Dublin 1-21, Tipperary 1-13

A poor day, a poor crowd,lifted by Brogan's seven points, four from play.

Saturday July 17

Dublin 0-14 Armagh 0-11

Nine of Dublin's 14 points came from Brogan off either foot, five from play. A second-half point, where he won an almost impossible ball and shrugged off three opponents, stands out.

Dublin 2-14, Louth 0-13

His quietest day as John O'Brien held him to just one point from play. He converted two more from frees.

Dublin 1-15, Tyrone 0-13

Brogan struggled early on, but in the second half he cut loose impressively ending up with another huge haul, nine points, four from play.

Sunday, August 22

Cork 1-15, Dublin 1-14

The day he sealed the title, scoring 1-7, 1-6 from play including that blistering goal so early in the game. Two late wides might have made a difference but otherwise he was flawless.

No action until the 49th minute when he came off the bench and grabbed an important point.

Instant impact as a substitute as he ran a tiring Derry full-back line ragged, finishing with 0-3, one from play.

A third successive appearance off the bench and an important goal secured a third successive league win.

His first league start is the platform for his first big tally, 1-6 in all, 1-3 from play.

Brogan ploughed a lone furrow and landed a goal in a heavy defeat. He scored 1-2 in all, 1-1 from play.

Another stellar show from Brogan, despite defeat. He hit all but three of Dublin's 14 points, four from play.

Sunday, April 11

Dublin 2-14 Tyrone 1-11

His best league display as he tore the Tyrone defence apart with points from impossible angles off either foot. He finished with eight in all, six from frees.
