Breheny steadies ship to edge Sligo clear
Sligo nearly conspired to turn victory into defeat against an Antrim side that had two players sent off in the second period at Markievicz Park.
Boosted by a seven-point interval lead, 1-8 to 0-4, Sligo eventually won by two to record their first win of the campaign. Pat Hughes' 26th-minute goal proved the key score.
Antrim's comeback, which saw them bring the gap back to a point, 1-10 to 0-12, with 10 minutes to go, was even more remarkable given their reduction in numbers, firstly when Kevin Niblock was dismissed (two yellows) in the 48th minute and then sub Michael McGill's straight red after 65 minutes.
The introduction of Paddy Cunningham gave Antrim's attack added zip. But there were canny moments from Mark Breheny and Adrian Marren to produce late scores and seal Sligo's win.
