AFTER partying into the early hours, Dublin’s immortal All-Ireland stars were treated to a rousing homecoming in the Capital after winning a second Sam Maguire in succession.

A packed Smithfield Square was the venue as around 10,000 men, women and children, covered in blue, sang Molly Malone along with Dublin midfielder, Brian Fenton.

The Raheny man wasn’t the only Dubs star to test his vocal cords on the microphone, with forwards, Kevin McManamon, Dean Rock and Cormac Costello also singing to a crowd that are normally used to roaring the players on.

Corner-back, Philly McMahon commended the supporters who turned out for rallying behind the team all season.

“It’s amazing. Behind every great team, there’s great fans and if the fans were playing for Sam Maguire every year in the stands, they’d win so we’re lucky to have them,” he said.

“It’s a great time for Dublin. I got on the team in 2008 and we weren’t so successful and it doesn’t last forever either. And when we get the chance to do it we should celebrate it,” he added.
