Beggan leaps to top spot in players' Fantasy League race
Only seven points separate Colm O'Rourke and Eamonn O'Hara in the Sunday Independent Fantasy Gaelic League with the Meath man edging out in front. Last week O'Rourke finished with just 18 points thanks to Mayo's Keith Higgins and Donal Vaughan racking up eight points each. O'Hara on the other hand sits in 43rd spot after his side clocked up an impressive 55 points with Mayo's Cillian O'Connor finishing with 23.
But it was the experts' table where most of the moving took place last week. Monaghan's Rory Beggan followed up his Ulster final win over Donegal with a surge to the top of the table. His teammates Darren Hughes and Conor McManus came good with 18 points. Neil Gallagher also made up ground last week and now sits in second place with 446 points.
His team put in a super performance, racking up 70 points; however, his Monaghan representatives of Hughes and McManus outscored his selected team-mates Michael Murphy and Rory Kavanagh.
It's all to play for now with the transfer window opening allowing players to change their teams as many times as they want before next Saturday ahead of the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
