Barry puts the seal on Pat's sweet success

After exiting last year's race at the hands of Moate CS, St Pat's of Navan exacted revenge on the Dessie Dolan-trained students at Pairc Tailteann on Saturday.

With seven minutes remaining Pat's only led by three points. However, a Shane Barry goal sent them into a 2-9 to 0-9 lead and that sealed their passage to the semi-finals.

A towering performance by midfielder Kevin Feely, allied to a last-quarter contribution of a goal and two points from 16-year-old Niall Kelly, propelled Ardscoil na Trionoide to the semi-finals.

The Athy-based outfit kept St Peter's scoreless in the second half to record an ultimately comfortable victory.

ST Mary's of Edenderry gave notice of their intent when they proved too strong for Dublin's St Benildus College.

The reigning Leinster champions were forced to work hard by a determined St Benildus, but they were still good value for their win.
