Dublin landed another Leinster football title last night, this time at the U-20 grade as they eased to a 13 point win over Laois in Tullamore.

Ciaran Archer was the name on everyone's lips before the game and the St Maur's man didn't disappoint as he chipped in with a match-winning haul of 3-8.

Laois recovered from a shaky start to be really competitive for 40 minutes or so but Dublin had a knack of getting goals at crucial times, while Colin Slevin saw red for Laois with eight minutes to go.

Dublin were impressive all over the field and moved with pace and routine throughout. With only three wides over the hour, the men from the capital made the most of their chances.

They were 0-4 to 0-0 up inside six minutes but found themselves 0-6 to 0-5 behind after 16 minutes as Laois, led by Diarmuid Whelan, ensured that it wouldn't turn into a rout early on.

Dublin were under pressure but they thrived. Points from James Doran, Brian O'Leary and a free from Ross McGarry put them back into a 0-8 to 0-6 lead before a short kick-out went wrong and ended up in the path of Archer (above) who made no mistakes for Dublin's first goal.

Archer took his first-half tally to 1-5 with a free with the last kick before the interval as Dublin went in leading 1-11 to 0-8.

Laois started the second half in a positive vein but they spurned goal chances. Mark Barry blazed over from close range while Alan Kinsella's rising effort just lifted over the crossbar to leave it 1-12 to 0-11.

Dublin responded by putting the result beyond doubt. Archer grabbed his second goal and although Laois got it back to a six-point game, Kieran Kennedy raided up from wing-back to slip home Dublin's third goal to make it 3-14 to 0-14.

Colin Slevin was sent off for Laois and minutes later, Archer completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot as they cantered to a 13-point win.
