Kobus on the mark as Clanna Gael beat Parnell’s

Dublin MFC D/E

Seán Moore Park hosted the Dublin Minor ‘D’ Football Championship final with Clanna Gael Fontenoy finishing strongly to beat Parnell’s by 1-14 to 0-11.

The pivotal moment arrived in the 55th minute as Paul Kobus pounced for the contest’s solitary goal, finally putting some distance between the teams after a titanic struggle.

There was never anything between the teams for the bulk of the game with wing-back Dean Holmes, Luke McDonagh and Dan O’Byrne all playing key roles for the hosts.

It proved a tough loss to take for a Parnell’s team that delivered a strong team display but had to concede second best by the end.

Their scores were shared by Thomas Redmond, TJ Tighe, Josh Adamson and the influential Alex Birmingham with the likes of Brian O’Sullivan, Cian Byrne and Alex Dunne shining in the away defence while Seán McHugh impressed up front.

Jubilant St Johns

The Dublin MFC ‘E’ North and South finals resulted in home wins as O’Toole’s and Ballinteer St John’s taking the spoils with respective wins over Castleknock and St Patrick’s Palmerstown.

At Loreto Park, Ballinteer recovered from a poor start to eventually beat St Pat’s by 4-7 to 1-9 with Finn Nolan, Seán Burke and Peter Nolan playing key roles for the winners.

A superb Luke Ryan goal saw the hosts bounce back to level at 1-5 apiece by half-time and they made a decisive move in the third quarter thanks to the scoring returns of Jim Paircéir, Oscar Cronin, Oisín McHugh and Brian Quinn and Joe Woulfe’s excellent solo goal completing their impressive comeback.

At Blunden Drive, O’Toole’s edged Castleknock by 2-13 to 3-7 with strong displays from Evan Caul, Aaron Cooling and Conn Rock coupled with scores from Aaron Keating, Paddy Smith, Luke Gifford and Jason O’Reilly seeing them home.
