Dublin JHC ‘A’ final
Ballyboden St Enda’s produced a dominant second-half performance to eventually pull away from Clanna Gael Fontenoy by 0-16 to 0-10 in their Go Ahead Dublin Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship final at O’Toole Park on Sunday morning.
It was Clanna Gael that made the brighter start as they enjoyed an early 0-6 to 0-3 lead, with the likes of Philip Twomey, Niall Madill, Ronan Spillane and Karl Morgan all impressing for the Ringsend outfit.
However, Boden found their scoring range with the introduction of substitutes Davey Keogh, Daniel O’Riordan and Hugh O’Sullivan proving telling by the final whistle.
“It’s nice to win any championship and this is no different,” said St Enda’s manager Tim Sweeney.
“They are a great bunch of lads to be involved with and they have been knocking on the door for the past couple of years so to finally get over the line is really pleasing.
“We probably left a few scores behind us but our substitutes came on and brought a freshness by the end,” added Sweeney.
Boden kept their scoreboard ticking over through the free-taking of Rhys McDonnell and with Chris Lambert adding three points from play, they edged their way home through the defensive excellence of Ruairí Kirwan, Darren Lennon and Enda Cashman.
Best for Clanns on the day were Niall Madill and Philip Tuomey.
