O’Dwyer’s made a winning start to their Dublin JFC1 club campaign as they overcame St Monica’s by 1-14 to 0-9 in Edenmore on Sunday morning.

After a tight opening, the visitors landed the first body blow through Arron Keenan’s 15th-minute goal.

But they allowed St Monica’s back into the hunt with three points from Mark Lyons leaving the tie deadlocked at 0-8 to 1-5 at the break.

The introduction of Dean Thompson off the bench was a positive move by O’Dwyer’s, and his two scores – augmented by further efforts from Jude O’Sullivan, Ciaran Morrissey and Cian Griffin – saw the Balbriggan side regain control.

O’Sullivan and Thompson shared six points, with Jamie Andrews, Bill Staunton and Jamie Lawler also on the scoresheet for the winners.
