Clare hurling exile Davy O'Halloran has thrown his lot in with the county's footballers for the remainder of the season.

O'Halloran publicly criticised Banner hurling boss Davy Fitzgerald after he, along with Nicky O'Connell, had been subject to a "humiliation", having been deemed to have fallen foul of team discipline.

O'Connell recently rejoined the hurlers ahead of their championship opener but O'Halloran remains out in the cold and he has opted to join Colm Collins' football squad.

O'Halloran becomes the latest former hurler to opt for the big-ball code.

Podge and Sean Collins joined their father's football set-up after Fitzgerald asked his players to concentrate on one code only, while their Cratloe team-mate Cathal McInerney followed suit.

Colm Galvin is also unavailable after he indicated his desire to spend the summer in the US.

Collins' footballers endured a disappointing league campaign in Division 3, losing four of their seven outings. They start their Munster championship campaign at home to Limerick on May 23.
