Johnson's penalty stop gives Kildare edge
Kildare 2-9 Limerick 0-11
PETER WILLIAMS had to cut his holidays short, but it was all worthwhile as his Kildare camogie team produced a strong second-half display to beat Limerick in the Division 3 final.
They trailed by 0-10 to 1-5 at the interval, with Rebecca Noonan excelling for Limerick as Kildare needed a sensational solo goal from Caoimhe Shiels to keep in touch.
Williams and his mentors shuffled the deck at the break and that made the difference. Captain Tanya Johnson made a number of top-class saves and her 47th-minute penalty stop from Noonan was crucial.
Siobhán Hurley followed with a point – her eighth – and then super sub Holly Tynan provided the definitive thrust with a late goal.
