Westmeath role for Carr
FORMER Dublin captain Tom Carr has agreed to take up a new underage development role with Westmeath, WRITES CLIONA FOLEY.
There has been speculation that the man who has managed Dublin, Roscommon and Cavan was set to become the Lake County's new minor manager.
But the long-time Westmeath resident has stressed that he's taking up a strategic role in relation to developing the county's underage players and teams, designed to provide continuity in their underage structures.
"I have agreed to do some work for the underage teams, I don't want to discuss management of the minor team yet," Carr said.
"I said I would get involved and put structures in place, with all the underage teams, from U-15 up to minor level."
Carr is in the fourth and final year of a degree course in strength and conditioning, and will also bring expertise in that area to Westmeath's underage structures.
