Two Shanes put Gaels on top

Simonstown Gaels stamped themselves as top contenders for the Meath SFC with a 1-11 to 0-10 quarter-final victory over Skryne at Seneschalstown last evening.

After leading by 0-6 to 0-5 at the break, a goal from Shane O'Neill put the Navan side well on the way to the last four. County star Shane O'Rourke put over three points in the second half with two superb scores in the closing stages proving crucial.

Earlier, there were quarter-final successes for 2005 winners Dunboyne and Seneschalstown -- who surprised Summerhill with a 2-11 to 0-11 win.
