The game at a glance

Man of the match

Donal Shine (Roscommon)

While his fellow forwards struggled, Shine led the way with nine points, seven from frees. His movement and decisiveness was too good for London.

Turning point

In first-half injury-time, with London out on their feet, a Roscommon purple patch yielded four quick-fire points.

Talking point

Roscommon have much work to do. Their shooting was average and they were lucky not to concede a couple of goals in the second half.

Ref watch

Cormac Reilly left London perplexed by penalising them for a number of illegal handpasses and gave the visitors a number of 50-50 decisions.

They said

Fergal O'Donnell (Roscommon manager):

"We're happy to get through, but we're not happy with the second-half performance. We're really going to have to up our game against Leitrim."

Noel Dunning (London manager):

"If that penalty had gone in, it would have been a tremendous boost. A goal would have put the game back in the melting pot."
