Square logic must come full circle
NOTICE the silence of the naysayers who confidently predicted mayhem across the land as venomous forwards brought vengeance to bear on unprotected goalkeepers, following the change of the rule on when players could enter the square.
It hasn't happened, of course, for the simple reason that other rules protect goalkeepers and, indeed, all other players too. Adjusting the square-ball rule made complete sense -- the only pity is that the change took so long to arrive.
With logic finally winning out on that front, can we now move quickly to amending the 'advantage' regulations, thus allowing referees to use common sense rather than being tied by a system, which, more often than not, rewards the sinner rather than the sinned against?
