Ryans help Limerick get off to flyer
Clinical Limerick brushed aside London in Ruislip yesterday.
Sharpshooters Ian and James Ryan led the way for the visitors, returning a haul of 0-10 between them as the Treatymen overturned an early deficit to score at will.
The favourites had gone behind to a well-worked Killian Phair goal in the opening minutes, but six points from Ian Ryan and four from his namesake James were just the sporadic inspiration Limerick needed. The home side rallied in the final quarter inspired by a brilliant Evan Byrne penalty save but, by then, Limerick were well out of sight.
Manager Mickey Ned O'Sullivan said: "You're going abroad and you don't know how lads will approach it. Will they want to treat it as a weekend away or as an opportunity of two points to be won?
"So I'm delighted about the focus and they did a very professional job. We're playing Carlow in the Gaelic Grounds next week and we won't look beyond that."
