Quigley's firepower decisive as Roslea hold onto crown
Roslea Shamrocks 1-10 Teemore Shamrocks 1-7
Roslea Shamrocks were deserving winners as they successfully defended their title against a hard-working and physical Teemore in Enniskillen.
Seamus Quigley was the best player on show, shooting 1-8 of his sides 1-10. He hit a brilliant purple patch after the break to put his side five points up.
The big full-forward notched three points from play and arrowed over a '45' to give his side a lead that was always going to be very difficult for Teemore to eat into.
Barry Owens moved from midfield to full-forward in the last 15 minutes for Teemore and the Fermanagh captain managed a fisted point, but Roslea crowded their defence and were first to the breaking ball to stop any sniff of the goal that Teemore needed.
It took Roslea until the 31st minute to hit their first point from play, the score coming from attacking wing half-back Conor Quigley.
This came just moments after his brother Seamus had converted a penalty.
Roslea were hitting first-time ball into the full-forward line and from one of these punts, Quigley collected possession and was then adjudged to have been fouled by Ferghal Cleary and the referee pointed to the spot.
Roslea badly needed this goal as Teemore had been the better side up to the penalty, with Damien Lee and Declan Fitzpatrick having earlier set up Gerry Quinlan to hammer to the net.
John Fitzpatrick was very much to the fore for Teemore in this opening period and he kicked over three points, including an excellent sideline effort.
But in the end the trophy returned to Roslea thanks to a dominant second-half display.
The ever-influential Sherry brothers, Peter and James, and an exhibition of shooting from the mercurial talent that is Seamus Quigley were the crucial factors.
