Quigley to the fore

Sean Quigley scored 1-8 to give Pete McGrath his first victory as Fermanagh manager in Brewster Park last night.

Despite trailing by four points after conceding two first-half goals from Quigley and Ryan Jones, Sligo led by 1-7 to 2-3 at half-time.

Within 60 seconds of Jones's piledriver in the 28th minute, Mark Breheny got on the end of a well-worked move to tap the ball into an empty net and bring Sligo back into the game.

Sligo midfielder James Kilcullen was given a black card for blocking the run of Johnny Woods after 42 minutes and was sent off, having been booked a few minutes earlier. Keelan Cawley suffered the exact same fate 20 minutes later as Sligo finished the game with 13 men.

Scorers – Fermanagh: S Quigley 1-8 (0-5f), R Jones 1-0, T Corrigan 0-2, L Cullen, R O'Callaghan, E Maguire 0-1 each. Sligo: A Marren 0-5 (0-3f), M Breheny 1-2 (2f), A Devaney 0-2 (1 '45', 1f), J Kilcullen 0-1.
