Pundits lose ground in race for Fantasy Gaelic honours
It was a bad week at the office for Sunday Independent columnists Eamonn O'Hara and Colm O'Rourke as both their teams slipped down the Fantasy Gaelic table.
O'Hara finished up last week's proceedings in 32nd place after earning just 25 points for his efforts. O'Rourke and his Desperados fared a little bit better he fell from a very respectable fourth spot into 13th last week. It is the first time that the Meath man has found himself outside the top ten so far this season.
Dublin 'keeper Stephen Cluxton was a big scorer for O'Rourke with 25 points; however, he only managed to secure another nine in total with two from Kevin Nolan and seven from Johnny Doyle.
The Fielder is on the comeback trail. He had an impressive 63 points and jumped almost 30 places in this week's table. His selection of Meath's Mickey Newman and Monaghan's Conor McManus paid dividends with the two forwards earning him 36 points.
In the experts' table Brian Malone of Wexford has knocked Westmeath's Aidan Finnan off top spot. Monaghan's Rory Beggan jumped from ninth into second and is just 13 points behind Malone.
