Pressure mounts on Carr
LOUTH bounced back from successive defeats to heap more pressure on under-fire Cavan manager Tommy Carr in Drogheda yesterday.
Carr conceded that the hosts deserved to win, but he was left to rue a string of early missed goal chances in an error-ridden contest.
Cian Mackey did find the Louth net in the fifth minute, but David Givney and Michael Brennan squandered two glorious opportunities apiece.
Cavan also passed up a number of easy frees and Louth drew level in the 24th minute, and then surged into a 0-8 to 1-2 interval lead.
Cavan failed to score until the 18th minute of the second period as Aaron Hoey helped extend Louth's lead, and the visitors lost Alan Clarke to a straight red card in injury time.
