O'Sullivan sinks dubs

LADIES FOOTBALL: Supersub Doireann O'Sullivan scored the crucial goal as Cork maintained their 100pc start to Division 1 of the National League with a hard-fought victory over Dublin.

O'Sullivan struck towards the end of a tight encounter at Ballyboden St Enda's as Cork claimed a 1-8 to 0-8 victory.

Dublin, with two wins out of two prior to yesterday, will have been encouraged by their performance as this is very much a team in transition.

Indeed, Sinead Ahern was their only attacker who featured in last year's All-Ireland quarter-final between the two sides.

Ahern was denied a first-half goal when her penalty was saved by Elaine Harte.

Meanwhile, Lycrecia Quinn scored two goals as Tyrone beat Kildare 2-15 to 4-6 in a relegation battle at Healy Park.

In Division 2, Cora Staunton scored 1-13 as Mayo beat Waterford 3-13 to 3-10 in Kilmacthomas and Kerry beat Cavan by 3-15 to 0-4 in Finuge.

All-Ireland intermediate champions Westmeath blitzed Wexford by 5-14 to 2-8 in Division 3.
