Offaly have dismissed suggestions that Kerry legend Darragh O Se is being lined up to take over their senior footballers.

Offaly County Board chairman Pat Teehan said there is no substance to the stories that the six-time All-Ireland winner -- due to be an U-21 selector with Kerry next season -- could take over from Tom Cribbin.

"No, he is not on our list," said the Offaly chairman yesterday. "You get names thrown about with every county job, but we haven't interviewed anybody yet.

"We have spoken to a few people alright -- from both inside the county and outside -- but we have yet to conduct interviews for the job. Our seven-man committee will meet next week to take things a step further, but we've no news yet."

Initially, it was hoped that the board would have their new manager in place before this weekend's football championship semi-finals, but Teehan does not believe that date is critical to the process.

"You would think that anyone who was interested in the job would be at the semi-finals and final of the county championship anyway," he said.

The Offaly football finals are pencilled in for Sunday, October 9, with the next County Board meeting scheduled to take place on the previous Tuesday.
