MICK O'DWYER could be set for a dramatic return to inter county management.

O'Dwyer is understood to be considering an approach from Clare to take over the running of their senior football team.

The Kerry legend has asked for time to consider the role which would, if he accepted it, be the fifth county he would have taken charge of in a stellar management career.

O'Dwyer (left) has enjoyed success with Kildare, Laois and Wicklow in recent years and even after walking away from Wicklow at the end of last season he always said he would like to return to inter county management.

A Clare County Board meeting is due to be be held tonight but is unlikely to confirm an appointment at this stage.
