O'Donoghue turns tide for Kingdom
Kerry 0-13 Cork 1-8
KERRY recovered from a poor start to see off Cork in the curtain-raiser at Páirc Uí Chaoimh and reach the final.
Trailing by 1-2 to 0-1 after 12 minutes, the visitors outscored their opponents by 0-7 to nil over the next 26 minutes to seize control.
The contribution of Mike O'Donoghue was key for the Kingdom, the centre-forward scoring three points, while Conor Cox and Niall O'Mahony also impressed.
The hosts got off to a dream start as John Paul Murphy found the net inside six minutes to help them to a five-point lead.
O'Donoghue's move to full-forward, and Kerry getting a hold of midfield, allowed them to take control and two O'Donoghue points put them ahead. At half-time it was 0-6 to 1-2.
Points from O'Mahony and David O'Callaghan extended that lead before Cork finally got back on the scoresheet.
They could not level, though, and O'Donoghue, Cox, Stephen O'Brien and Paul O'Donoghue extended the lead to six.
Late points from subs John Dineen and Eoghan Buckley gave Cork a chance, but they could not find the equalising goal.
