O'Connor strike sets tone for cavan cruise

Cavan swept into the semi-final of the Ulster MFC after defeating Fermanagh 2-16 to 1-10 in Clones yesterday.

Cavan were only behind once in the contest when a first-half goal by Ferm-anagh's Shaun Quigley put his side ahead after the Breffni men had opened a two-point lead. A minute later, Cavan were back in front when full-forward Paul O'Connor touched in after a goalmouth scramble.

Cavan led at half-time by 2-5 to 1-6, their other goal coming from Jack Brady in the eighth minute.

The opening 10 minutes of the second half was even but Cavan still led by three points entering the final quarter. Fermanagh reduced the deficit to two with a point by Kane Connor in the 56th minute but from there to the finish Cavan took control and hit seven points without reply to run out easy winners.
