O'Boyle seals Derry comeback
A remarkable second-half comeback saw Derry claim an upset victory over Armagh at Celtic Park last night.
Despite playing into the wind, Armagh led at half-time thanks to some predatory finishing in front of goal. Caolan Rafferty flicked home a high ball on eight minutes for a 1-1 to 0-0 lead. Benny Heron got a goal back for Derry, but Aidan Forker and Gavin McParland rattled the net with superb strikes as Armagh led by 3-1 to 1-2 after 23 minutes.
Derry did finish the half well as Heron kicked a neat score and Cailean O'Boyle fired over three unanswered scores to leave it 3-1 to 1-6 at the break.
The start of the second half saw Derry take over as O'Boyle burst through for a goal, and three quick points gave them a lead of 2-9 to 3-1. Points from McParland and Stefan Campbell closed the margin but a point from Daniel Jackson eased Derry nerves as Armagh finished with 14 men following Forker's sending off.
