O Lionain ensures Waterford remain unbeaten after bad-tempered affair

Carlow 1-11
Waterford 1-11

WATERFORD footballers remain unbeaten after sharing the spoils with Carlow at Dr Cullen Park, as Dublin referee Brian O'Shea issued a total of 13 cards, three red -- to Carlow's JJ Smith and Waterford duo Wayne Hennessy and Tony Grey -- and 10 yellow.

An undistinguished opening half saw the sides tied 0-7 apiece. After a superb save by James Clarke denied Waterford's Liam O Lionain a goal on the resumption, Luke Dempsey's men recorded a brace of points from Eric McCormack and a goal from substitute John Murphy.

Waterford responded with an O Lionain goal in the 44th minute and points from Michael Donnelly and O Lionain tied the game. The sides shared a further four.
