Moorehouse makes his mark

Wicklow 3-17 Meath 2-12

LAST year's runners-up Wicklow overcame Meath in Arklow to once more earn a place in the decider.

The Garden County men laid the platform for victory with a whirlwind start that saw them lead 2-7 to 0-3 after 26 minutes.

Meath got back into it, however, with goals by Derek Doran and Stephen Clynch cutting the deficit to four points, 2-10 to 1-6, at the break. But the Royals were down to 14 men after Stephen Donoghue was red-carded just before half-time, minutes after he was brought on.

Christy Moorehouse proved a vital impact sub for Wicklow as he closed out this game with a goal on 54 minutes.
