McMahon shoots down Antrim

Monaghan had too much firepower for Antrim in Newry.

Fergal McMahon led the charge with 2-4, while Adam Treanor got the first of their three first-half majors in the seventh minute. Antrim opened their account in the 15th minute with a point by Domhnall Nugent but Monaghan would lead 3-9 to 0-4 at half-time.

That changed in the opening 10 minutes of the second half as Antrim nabbed three goals in nine minutes, two by Gareth George and the third by Ruairi Scott to reduce the gap to seven points. Monaghan regrouped, however, and Conor McCarthy, Fergal McMahon and David McAlister found the range again and Monaghan pulled away. Antrim finished the game with 14 players when Conal Delargey was sent off in the final minutes.
