McDonagh on form

Gallen CS had matters very much their own way in this one-sided quarter-final in Kells.

The Ferbane side led 0-9 to 0-0 at the break, and, although Seamus Mattimoe eventually got Kells off the mark from a free on 33 minutes, they never threatened a revival against a well-drilled opposition.

Gallen eased off somewhat in the second-half, but still kept the scoreboard ticking over through Aaron McDonagh, Owen Lowry and Joe Maher.

A goal from wing-back Paddy Murray reduced the deficit to six points in the 57th minute, but Gallen rounded off an impressive display with a goal of their own from top scorer McDonagh, who finished with a tally of 1-6.

Others to impress were Maher, Kieran Cahill, Leon Fox and Conor and Owen Lowry, sons of former Offaly great Michael.
