Athlone CC 0-12 Ardscoil, Athy 0-1 Leinster Colleges SFC 'A'

Athlone Community College coasted into the second round with an easy victory over a disapointing Ardscoil na Trionoide side at Athlone IT.

The Athy outfit only registered one score over the course of the contest, a free in the first half by centre-forward Michael Kelly.

Athlone CC, winners of the North Leinster league before Christmas, led 0-9 to 0-1 at half-time.

The best of the action came in the opening period, with Ballinasloe's Eoin McCormack and attack-minded centre-back Ronan Daly leading the way in the scoring stakes for Athlone. Midfielder Ray Connellan and full-forward Jack Quinn also contributed a fine point each.

The winners' second-half points came from Conor Mulry, Eoin Fallon and substitute Killian Bannon.
