McCarron seals Monaghan progress

Monaghan are through to the final for the second year in a row, but they had to withstand a spirited Galway rally in the second half before clinching victory at Emmet Park with a late goal and two points from top scorer Jack McCarron.

Monaghan led at half-time by 1-5 to 0-4, helped by a Thomas Kerr goal.

Galway fought back with five unanswered points in the second half but McCarron's goal kick-started Monaghan's winning revival.
