A balanced St Mary's team had no difficulty in seeing off Mary Immaculate in Mullingar.
Constant drizzle made for slippery underfoot conditions and the standard of football never reached any great heights. However, all the quality play came from the winners, who led by 0-7 to 0-3 at the break, despite playing against the wind in opening half hour.
Paul McAleer scored the only goal of the game 13 minutes into the second half and the slick-moving Mary's attack -- in which Antrim's Kevin Niblock excelled -- added a string of further points to emerge as comfortable victors.
A measure of St Mary's dominance can be gauged by the fact that they had eight different scorers from play.
