A crack team of Mayo supporters has planted the green and red of Mayo on top of Donegal’s Mount Errigal ahead of the All-Ireland final on Sunday.

The move appears to be an act of friendly revenge after Fine Gael Donegal TD Joe McHugh planted a Donegal flag on top of Mayo’s Croagh Patrick last week during his party’s think-in in Westport.

The Mayo supporters even videoed their secret mission and uploaded it to YouTube entitled: “Erecting the Mayo flag on Mt Errigal (Donegal) just to be ignorant.”

The Iwo Jima-inspired act was conducted by three Mayo supporters who climbed Donegal’s highest mountain, at 2,500 feet, ahead of the Mayo/Donegal clash this weekend.
