Lucky Ballymun line up St Jude's
PAUL Curran's Ballymun Kickhams will meet St Jude's in the semi-finals after wins over St Vincent's and Na Fianna.
Ballymun can count themselves lucky after a late Dean Rock free saw them edge out the Vins 0-14 to 1-10.
The Marino men were the dominant side in the opening half, but their shooting was at times shambolic and they only led by a point at the break.
Vincent's looked like they would take control when midfielder David Murphy ghosted behind the Ballymun full-back line and found the net on 37 minutes. However, the Ballymun side rallied and Rock (two), Kevin Leahy and Ted Furman all split the posts to edge them in front.
Diarmuid Connolly almost wrapped it up for Vincent's with three minutes remaining, but his brilliant shot was somehow tipped on to the bar by Ballymun 'keeper Shane Currie. Rock then displayed nerves of steel to slot his injury-time winner.
Declan Donnelly's early goal proved decisive as St Jude's ousted Na Fianna by 1-13 to 0-14. The Templeogue side were cruising when they led by six entering the final quarter, but Na Fianna rallied through scores from David Quinn, Johnny Cooper and a Niall McGovern 45.
They needed a goal, however, and it never materialised as Donnelly and Enda Dalton clinched it for the winners.
