Leitrim rue howlers

Clare 2-12
Leitrim 0-17

Leitrim were left frustrated after two soft second-half Clare goals cost them victory despite being the dominant side at Cusack Park, Ennis, yesterday.

Leitrim controlled midfield and lead by 0-9 to 0-5 at the break but they amassed eight wides from play.

In the second period, the visitors led by 0-13 to 0-7 when Clare corner-forward Barry Toner hauled the Banner back into it when his high dropping shot from the left was fluffed by Leitrim goalie Gareth Phelan.

With six minutes left Leitrim were leading by 0-16 to 1-10 when Chris Dunning's long ball also found its way past Phelan

Gary Brennan and Leitrim's Darren Sweeney exchanged points before David Tubridy's point sealed victory for the home side in injury-time.
