Laois cruise past Carlow in first ever Friday night qualifier
LAOIS are safely through to Round Two of the Football Qualifiers after a 3-13 to 0-12 win over Carlow at Dr Cullen Park.
It was a historic night for the championship with the game being the first to be played on a Friday night.
Despite a mixed reaction to the timing of the fixture the game attracted a healthy crowd of over 4,000.
Carlow began well and led by 0-6 to 0-1 with Brendan Murphy and Darragh Foley scoring terrific scores with the Enid at their backs.
Laois stabilised however and scored a crucial goal before the break from Padraig McMahon and Justin McNulty's men trailed by a point.
Laois dominated the second period adding two more goals through David Conway and Colm Kelly as they ran out facile 10-point winners.
