Kennedy unstoppable as Athenry reclaim title

Athenry VS 3-10
Davitt College, Castlebar 1-5

Craig Kennedy was the hero as Athenry powered to victory in the Connacht VS Senior 'A' football final in Garrymore yesterday.

It was Athenry's second crown in three years and Kennedy led the way, scoring 1-3. He set up the opening goal with a driving run -- after his shot careered back off the post, it fell to Dylan Murphy, who finished to make it 1-2 to 0-2.

Moments later Kennedy drove a shot past Martin Corcoran. It was 2-4 to 0-5 at the interval.

After the break, Kennedy's magic created Athenry's third goal in the 38th minute. His pass found Michael Hession and he beat Corcoran to make it a 10-point lead.

Midway through the half, Athenry's Kieran Forde was shown his second yellow card.
