Poor basics are frustrating the viewers

"Managers are under so much pressure now and when you have that scenario, you're going to see these kind of tactics.

This is nothing new, we'll be talking about the exact same thing next year. For the last few years, it has been the month of August that has saved the championship season with some good games, because what went before that was often very poor.

"There are some inter-county footballers playing the game today who can't kick the ball from A to B and that gets people frustrated. If people are getting a good product , they'll keep coming to games, but if not, they'll eventually stop watching.

"I know people have talked about rule changes and have toyed with the idea of introducing different things, like limiting the number of handpasses, but will that stop teams putting 12 or 13 men behind the ball? I don't think so. Football is a simple game complicated by intelligent people."
