Ivers the engine for Warwickshire

Two first-half goals set up Warwickshire for a deserved victory over a battling Leitrim at Ballinamore on Saturday.

The visitors led 0-3 to 0-2 after eight minutes and an Emmet McCabe goal four minutes later extended their lead. But Leitrim hit back through two Clement Cunniffe points before Cunniffe netted to put his side in front.

Michael Ivers restored Warwickshire's advantage, scoring three points without reply. Then a long-range free by defender Ruairi Wedel somehow found the net following a mix-up in the Leitrim defence to give the visitors a 2-9 to 1-6 lead at half-time.

Leitrim upped their game in the second period but lack of firepower and a more skilful Warwickshire held the home side's resurgence in check.
