Hughes fires Farney
Kieran Hughes capped a dominant midfield display with a fine goal as Monaghan cruised to victory at Casement Park last night.
Antrim went ahead early on when Colm Fleming fired in a penalty. In the 11th minute, though, a scything three-man move ended with Hughes dispatching a daisy-cutter into the corner of the net.
Five unanswered points helped the visitors into a 1-7 to 1-3 interval lead.
Points by David Hughes and Chris McGuinness on the resumption were followed by a David Millar goal in the 34th minute to leave Monaghan leading by 2-9 to 1-3.
Fleming's late fisted goal was only a consolation for Antrim.
