Horgan goal inspires Macroom's stroll

THE previous two Cork schools to reach the final will play for a spot in the 2012 decider as De La Salle Macroom triumphed at Ballineen yesterday to set up a semi-final with Colaiste Chriost Ri.

A blast of 1-3 in the opening five minutes laid the foundations for victory, David Horgan striking for a goal in the midst of points by Daniel Twomey, Peter Kelleher and Darren Kelly. St Fachtna's fought hard but registered just two points before half-time.

Macroom stretched ahead by 1-8 to 0-2 after the break. A Brian O'Driscoll goal gave Skibbereen hope in the 44th minute, but Cathal Vaughan and Twomey shared four late points to seal a 10-point victory.
