Hazley goal sets tone

A MaLahide side, with just a little more class than their Kildare opponents, ran out comfortable, if flattering, winners at Broomfield.

Mark Hazley set the tone for Malahide with a notable personal performance when he rifled the ball past 'keeper Patrick O'Connell after it cracked the crossbar on 15 minutes.

Points from Kilcock's Ciaran Gillespie and Cian Mulhall kept pace with the opportunism of Conor Mullarkey for the home side, who were five clear at the break thanks to a well-struck Cian McCarthy goal on 26 minutes.

Mulhall pegged a point back for Kilcock before sub Fergal McCabe reduced the deficit again.

Malahide's full-back Conor Ryan and Shane McGrath at midfield were exemplary, leading the way with inspirational scores.

McCabe snatched Kilcock a late goal but it was too little, too late.
