The 2012 'Footballer of the year' Karl Lacey has received a personal letter of congratulations for his success from none other than Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
Lacey is a committed supporter of the Gunners and his achievements prompted Wenger to pen a letter to the four-time All Star.
Lacey has been in London, New York and Boston over the last number of weeks, but took time out last night to post a copy of the letter on his Twitter page under the heading "Nice letter to receive today."
Dated November 1 and written on Arsenal headed note paper from their contact centre in Highbury House, Wenger "on behalf of all the players and staff" wanted to "take this opportunity to send our congratulations on recently winning the All-Ireland football championship in Ireland.
"I note that you (are) totally committed and dedicated to this sport and that you won the RTE Player of the Year Award in 2012."
Lacey's award was, in fact, the GAA GPA Opel 'Footballer of the year,' which was announced live on RTE.
"I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the future," Wenger signed off.
Lacey highlighted the receipt of the letter as his Donegal manager Jim McGuinness began to settle into his new part-time role as a performance consultant with Celtic FC this week.
