Galvin fires home insurance goal to see off battling Abbey

Col Na Sceilge 1-10
Abbey CBS Tipperary 1-4

Fielding eight of last year's All-Ireland Hogan Cup-winning side, Colaiste Na Sceilge were given a far tougher test than expected by a fired-up Abbey CBS Tipperary on a very heavy Glin pitch.

Colaiste Na Sceilge, with Kerry minor Max Thiemann dominant at midfield, started the better and corner-forward Barry O'Dwyer kicked over wonderful left-footed points inside the opening 10 minutes.

Two long-range frees from the boot of another Kerry minor, Eanna O'Connor, and another free from Stephen O'Dwyer saw Na Sceilge lead by 0-6 to 0-0 at the interval.

Ian Galvin secured victory in the second period when he blasted to the net in the 42nd minute. Sceilge now face an all-Kerry semi-final with St Brendan's, Killarney, on Feb 14.
